Maria S. Gomez is an award-winning indigenous filmmaker; Born and raised in New York, New York. She started her first internship at the Educational Video Center at 17 years old, and never put a camera down ever since. Working sometimes at the El Barrio Firehouse Community Center as a Peer trainer and Paid Producer, Maria went on to further her education at The Los Angeles Film School; Where she took home "Outstanding Creativity" for her award-winning short horror film "Pushing Up Orchids" 2021, and Best Horror at "The Rome International Movie Awards". Maria S. Gomez was also just celebrated as a woman of color female filmmaker at "The Peoples Film Festival" winning Best Documentary for her short "Crimes Against Humanity" in 2022. Her latest Capstone production "Flowerchild" is coming soon in Fall 2022.
