I am the mother of Evan, my only child who was 26 years old, married only two years, and walking sunshine to all who knew her. Before the nightmare, we were last together Thanksgiving 2021 in our native and home state, North Carolina.

Evan began not feeling well about November 30, 2021, and sought early treatment from an urgent care facility on December 2 with low-grade fever, tightness in chest, and possible dehydration. A rapid Covid test showed positive and she was told to go home (no other tests or lung x-rays). Within the next couple days, feeling worse, she contacted the urgent care for a follow-up visit, but was told, “there is nothing we can do – if you are concerned, go to the ER” (Note: This urgent care’s website lists treatment areas to include “dehydration and respiratory infections,” but nothing was checked in her first visit, then told she could not have a follow-up visit!)
